The NZHerald TV Picks of the Week. “Once again only ONE is captioned. We miss out again – simply not good enough!
Last week our blog of the NZHerald TV Picks of the week was one of our most popular. I’m rather an optimist so I thought I’d look again at this weeks picks out today to see if it would come up with a better outcome?
When: Thursday 9.25pm
James Nesbitt in New Zealand
When: Sunday 8.30pm
Where: Prime TV
When: Tuesday 7.30pm
When: Tuesday 9.30pm
When: Thursday 8.30pm
Captions Score: 20%
So sadly my very unscientific study reveals the same outcome as last week – just one captioned program.
The Prime TV guide for ‘James Nesbitt in New Zealand’, sounds interesting. ‘James gets under the skin of his adopted homeland, New Zealand, on a spectacular journey that sees him visit Sir Peter Jackson.’ I wonder if I could get under the skin of James and Sir Peter what they would think about the lack of captions?
Game of Thrones
Just out of interest the top pick from last week – the Game of Thrones (uncaptioned) generated a lot of coverage on the internet. Some people have suggested if you need captions you should just download the program from a foreign site that has them. The Deaf and Hard of Hearing of New Zealand deserve the same ability to watch a program as everyone else at the time of broadcast – legally.
#CaptionitNZ Now – its simply not good enough – again.
